Magical morning and ferry to Senja

After a night of rain, the sun broke out again in the morning and I felt ready for a new day full of adventure. I got up early because I planned to take the ferry to Senja and I had heard that you have to be there in good time to get a seat. But before I could leave for the ferry, I experienced a magical moment.

At 7 in the morning I started a hike up to Ørnfløya. When I started, the valley was still in shadow, but the higher I got, the more the sun began to peek over the mountain tops. The air was cold, clear and crisp. The hike was tiring at times, but once at the top I was greeted by a breathtaking view and the sun had just come over the top and embedded Sommarøy with the bridge there in a warm glow. The view stretched in both directions and was one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen.

At the top there is a mail box where you can write in the guest book but I completely forgot about it - the views completely blew me away.

After enjoying the moment that will live forever in my memory, I headed to the ferry. I arrived almost three hours before departure and thought I was out in good time. So was I but to my surprise several RVs had already pulled up in front of me. I realized that it was lucky that I left early - several cars could not fit on the ferry and had to wait two hours for the next departure.

As I left Sommarøy behind and the ferry approached Senja, I was filled with anticipation. It will be exciting to discover Senja, a place I have never visited before. Many say that it is as beautiful as Lofoten, so now it remains to be seen if that is true!

I drove a bit and settled in Mefjordvær where I parked my motor home with the sound of the sea for company. Tomorrow new discoveries await on Senja and I look forward to what this island has to offer.
