Homecoming after four weeks on the road
Today I came home after four weeks of fantastic travel full of experiences. During these weeks I have seen so much of the Nordic landscape with everything from dramatic fjords and mighty mountains to quiet forests and mirror-like lakes. It was a total of just over 6100 km of driving through varying weather and terrain with everything from sunny days by the water to cold, windy and rainy nights in the mountains and even a little snow.
The trip took me through Finland, Norway and Sweden and each part of the trip offered something unique. Some places were old favorites that I had visited several times before, while others were completely new to me. I have hiked, explored isolated villages and met both people and various animals along the way. Nature has been an ever-present companion and it's hard to pick a favorite spot as there have been too many magical moments to list.
Now that I'm home, the practical matter of removing and cleaning the car remains. It feels a little wistful to say goodbye to life on the roads for this time, but I'm already looking forward to the next adventure. Four-wheel travel offers a freedom that few other forms of travel can provide and it is a freedom I will never get tired of.
With the memories of the trip still fresh, the next few days will be about settling back into everyday life and perhaps starting to plan the next trip.
