A day in rain and storm

When I started my journey along the Helgeland coast this morning, the weather was surprisingly pleasant with temperatures around 17-19 degrees and mostly breaks. It felt promising, but the longer I drove, the worse the weather got.

My first stop was at "the forgotten town" and "the Thai house", two places that really stand out in the otherwise barren mountain landscape. It is an unexpected combination of culture mixed with both a Greek and Thai touch. The abandoned village and the charming little house are works of art with an interesting contrast to the beautiful nature around. The house is free to use for overnight stays, meditation and reflection. A different experience in the middle of the mountains.

The next stop was Storvika, a beach that I'm sure is incredibly beautiful under better circumstances. But when I got out of the car, the wind was almost knocking me over. It was hard to stand upright and the rain whipped my face. I quickly realized that this would only be a short visit before I returned to the RV in a daze. The journey afterwards with the motor home became extra challenging with the gale force winds. So much so that I had to stop for half an hour when it was impossible to drive because of the wind.

The weather persisted for the rest of the day with strong gusts of wind and persistent rain. I made a short stop at Svartisen, one of Norway's most impressive glaciers, which unfortunately was almost completely hidden behind fog and rain. I could only sense its grandeur through the heavy clouds.

The journey continued via two ferries and finally, after a long day in stormy weather, I chose to park the motorhome at a small and deserted boat harbor in the small village of Kvina. The rain continued to pour down and the whole place felt gray and deserted.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the coming days does not look very promising, which is a shame because the Helgeland coast is incredibly beautiful - what little I could make out through the rain. I hope for better weather in the future, but until then it will be enjoying the peace in the motor home despite the storm outside.
